I sold "Birds of a Feather" at the July artstroll and the gentleman who bought it was nice enough to send me a picture of what it looks like in their home! It looks great framed.

Well, the art stroll was great! My friend Annie helped me set up and once Jeffrey got off work he joined us. I sold a couple of pieces and met some great artists. Don't forget next months art stroll is on August 21st.

Epitomy

I LOVE this piece! My friends Devin and Caryn had hung the piece I did for them ("Bubba Gump", check earlier post) in their bedroom and their friend Stephanie saw it. However, she wanted something with earthy tones and shapes. We decided together and it would be 9 different wood blocks, each 12x12, instead of on canvas (I love painting on wood). Anyway, this is what I came up with.

Jibe - Blue

I know this isn't the best picture of "Jibe - blue" but the batteries in my camera were about to die and I wanted to get a quick pic before the art stroll tonight. I made this piece for tonight and I hope it sells. Acrylic paint was used on stretched canvas in lime green, burnt yellow, baby blue, black, cream, and brown.

Flock Together

"Flock Together" is the second bird piece I did after "Birds of a Feather." They weren't intended to go together, although they could if you wanted. Before any paint was put on I textured it like crazy! After the texture dried, I used acrylic paint in teal, brown, crimson, and cream on stretched canvas.

Birds of a Feather

I was inspired to do this piece, and other pieces similar to it, after a trip to Roly Poly in Birmingham. Roly Poly is a sandwich shop (most unique sandwiches you will ever have) and features local artists. I saw a piece there that was very dark and reminded me of Edgar Allen Poe's "The Raven." I decided to create a bird piece but with more earthy colors!

A variety of textures were added first to this painting and then acrylic paint was used in teal, dark and light brown, cream, and crimson on stretched canvas.

Jibe - Crimson

I love this piece! There is just something whimsical and relaxing about it. I actually love this piece so much that after I painted it I decided to decorate my living room around the lime green and crimson red colors. I will have to post a picture of my living room soon.

The colors used were crimson red, lime green, burnt yellow, cream, baby blue, black and brown. All the paint is acrylic and it is on stretched canvas. Bubba Gump

I made this piece for my friends Devin and Caryn. I named it "Bubba Gump" due to the many funny nights Dev and I had watching Forest Gump. When he asked me to paint him something blue and abstract, this is what he got! The vintage sheet music was put on first and incorporates both of our love of music. Acrylic paint in blue, white, cream, yellow/green were used on stretched canvas. Please remember that all colors can be changed according to your desire.

Wood Art - Square Blocks

I have done a variety of these wood blocks but finally decided I should take a picture and post them. Each block measures 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 x 3/4" and have been sanded, primed and painted. Each piece has been given an antique looke and due to the uniqueness of wood, non are the exact same!
